…some kind of feeling

transaction between plains, entity, portal, transparency/opaqueness, liminality, containment of experience, here/now, limbo, road furniture, autonomous trajectory, waiting room, communal/public, togetherness, personal and collective, personal and impersonal, wreck and ruin…

…some kind of feeling is an experimental collaboration and duo-exhibition between QSS artists Darcy Patterson and Reuben Brown in Gallery 1 of QSS Artist Studios and Gallery, East Belfast.

Intending to investigate the ephemeral and mercurial boundaries of space, …some kind of feeling gently dances between the parameters that segregate spaces, from the public and communal, to the personal and domestic, through immersive interactive installation, 3D-CGI (computer-generated) filmography, and a collection of collaboratively-realised sculptural interventions.

Despite varying physically, the artists’ individual practices share common conceptual motives, and similar approaches to ‘making. Having worked collaboratively ‘behind-the-scenes’ for the last four years, “…some kind of feeling” is their first endeavour into collaborative and joint-creation.

“…some kind of feeling” is an awkward, (im)personal and eerie exploration of space, and the exhibitionist and voyeuristic implications of existing within public and personal space. Through inflicting slight sculptural interventions upon everyday objects, the artists aim to dislodge and displace the objects’ autonomous trajectory, generating spaces that intend to make the occupier conscious of themselves, the people that surround them, and the spaces they embody. Everyday objects and everyday spaces, serving their purpose perfectly except for a partial, rather eerie intervention.
