Looking Back, Thinking Back | solo exhibition by Ciaran Harper
QSS artist Ciaran Harper is exhibiting a new series of works at the Artisann Gallery (Belfast) in October, to celebrate Black History Month.
Harper’s work is ethnic-inspired, with his mixed Irish and Caribbean background strongly influencing his practice. He primarily works in oils, combining wax or plaster with collage and found imagery.
In Looking Back, Thinking Back Harper reflects upon historical and influential figures across the Black Atlantic and explores how diaspora can be represented in art.
Ciaran graduated from the Belfast School of Art in 2016 and joined QSS in 2019. His work is included in the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s permanent collection. Notable commissions include the African and Caribbean Support Organisation NI’s commemoration of the slave trade.
