Jamshid Mirfenderesky – Obituary

All of us at QSS are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jamshid Mirfenderesky, a vital figure within the arts community in Northern Ireland. Opening the Fenderesky Gallery with his wife Angela in 1983, they have supported many local artists who have exhibited and worked with them throughout the years.

Jamshid was a hugely talented and unique individual who will be a great loss to the cultural life of this city and beyond. He was erudite, played guitar and painted, was generous and witty, and knew how to hang an exhibition better than anyone I have ever met. This photograph shows him at his gallery in the Crescent Arts Centre in the 1990s.” – Clement McAleer, one of the many QSS artists who exhibited at the Fenderesky Gallery over the years.

Our sympathies are with Jamshid’s wife, Angela, and their family during this time.
