Japanese and Northern Irish Artists’ Exchange
10 Japanese Contemporary Artists in Belfast

Intersections: Globalization and identity is a project that involves artists from Japan and Northern Ireland, creating a unique opportunity for artists from different parts of the world to actively exchange their views and ideas around current issues of cultural identity and globalization. In December 2006 the ‘INTERSECTIONS’ Belfast-Tokyo Exchange Project started off in Tokyo hosted by Youkobo Art Space. During this time 5 Northern Irish based artists visited Tokyo and held an exhibition at in the gallery space of Youkobo Art Space. .
This time,
5 Japanese artists will travel to Belfast from February to March and
will actively engage in exchange through their contemporary art
practice.
In total 10 Japanese contemporary artists will show
their new work in the gallery space and other open spaces at Queen
Street Studios. The artworks range from installation work from Inagaki
Tatsuo, Motomiya Kaoru, Satoh Yoshiko, Takashima Ryozo and photographs
by Yokoyama Aska. Also featured are video works of 5 other artists,
Taki Kentaro, Kanamaki Kazumi, Hattori Katsuyuki, Kawai Masayuki and
Nakamura Akiko selected and compiled by The VIDEOART Center Tokyo...
