Talks & Seminars Program
Queen Street Studios and Flax Art Studios Belfast have identified a growing need for critical discourse in term of artistic practice and sociological concerns in Belfast. Building on and identifying other successful models such as Cork Caucaus, both studio groups have agreed to pool pre-existing expertise, resources and venues in order to host a number of talks, seminars, arts based public events and sculptural installations in Belfast.
The themes explored involve the exploration of memory and remembrance in a post-conflict city. Rapid redevelopment, issues of urbanism and activism are on the agenda. The activities proposed for the first event revolve around the current debate of memory and lived experience in relation to the contentious proposed re-development of the Maze Prison. This programme is proposed to begin in April 2006. For more information check back soon.
