Gerry Gleason
I started showing my work publicly from the early eighties in solo and
group shows. From that time to the present I have exhibited my work in
mainland Europe/UK/Northern Ireland/the Republic of Ireland/ USA and more
recently China.
I have work in public collections in Germany and private collections elsewhere.
The work at times has been created against the backdrop of the N. Ireland
troubles but I see this as a microcosm of a macrocosm worldwide.
I have always struggled in my work to come out on the positive side, never
forcing the content . In parallel to this work I have worked in what may
be termed a modernist tradition with deep respect for artists such as
Picasso, Matisse and Francis Bacon.
My work has been on the cover of various publications in N.Ireland and
my work has also been discussed in various books written on art in N.Ireland.
