Dougal McKenzie

Born in Edinburgh in 1968. Studied Painting and Drawing at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen from 1986-90 and on the MA Fine Art Course at the University of Ulster at Belfast from 1990-91.

Co-founder of Six into 18 (artists' group and exhibitions) in Belfast and Derry from 1992-94. Co- director at Catalyst Arts (artist-run gallery and projects) in Belfast between 1994-96.

Lecturer in the Fine Art Department at Limerick School of Art and Design from 1996-2003, and at Newry Institute since 2004.

Solo painting shows at the Compass Gallery in Glasgow, the Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast and the Hunt Museum in Limerick. Performance and installation projects on sites nationally and internationally.

Has participated in group shows in Birmingham/ Alabama, Iceland, Poland, Germany, Slovenia and various venues across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Most recently a prize winner in the John Moores 23 Exhibition of Contemporary Painting at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, also participated in Perspective 2004 at the Ormeau Baths Gallery in Belfast. Forthcoming show at the RHA Ashford Gallery in Dublin in 2006.
